CORINTH -- Harold C. "Nippy" Denno, age 65, went into the arms of the Lord, June 20, 2009, surrounded by his friends and family at Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness.

Born on April 21, 1944, in Corinth, he was the son of the late Cecil C. Denno Sr. and Althine R. (Harris) Denno.

He was a 1963 graduate of Corinth High School and then obtained his certification in welding as a steam fitter/pipefitter.

Harold married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Kobliska, on March 12, 1966, at the United Methodist Church of Corinth.

He had been employed at International Paper Company in Corinth. As a member of Local 773 Steamfitters & Pipefitters Union in South Glens Falls, he worked at Finch & Pruyn Paper Company and various other construction projects throughout the Eastern seaboard.

Harold enjoyed helping others and giving to the community. He volunteered at the Corinth Emergency Squad, where he taught First Aid and CPR, he also volunteered at Corinth Little League as a coach and served as Corinth village assessor and part-time as a Corinth police officer.

Harold and Sharon built their home in Sunset Beach, N.C., in 2001, in preparation for his retirement. They moved there permanently in 2003.

He enjoyed camping, dancing, walking the beach with his wife, and enjoying his retirement in his North Carolina home. He truly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Kaela, McCabe and Branson, and welcomed a new grandson, Logan, 15 weeks ago.

He was predeceased by his parents and one sister, Nancy Baker.
