CORINTH EMS WANTS YOU!
Would you like to help people in your community, in a way that is very rewarding?
Do you have some spare time during the day or night?
Do you enjoy learning and gaining new skills?
Would you like to drive an ambulance?
Have you ever thought of joining a ambulance service but, was unsure if you would like it?
If you answered yes to any of the questions above, then we have great news for you. Even if your not quite sure, this could be a great opportunity for you. As a member of the Corinth Emergency Squad, you could help out your community, family, friends, and co-workers. All you need is a little spare time and the want to help.
You will gain medical training, and have the ability to apply it in the field. You will be assisting people who need you the most, and really making a difference in their lives. You will learn new skills, or be able to sharpen or advance the skills you already have.
There are different ways to help out in our organization. You can become a driver, or an EMT-D. Either way you are helping out every one who needs you.
You will be able to get involved and help out not only the people in your community, but also the people who travel here on vacations, home visits, etc.
It is one of the great ways to give something back to your home town.
If you are still unsure if this is something you would like, why not try a ride-a-long. We offer a ride-along application for people 18 and older who are not sure if they are cut out for this kind of service.
We are a volunteer organization, and our volunteers are very eager to help, and caring. No, we are not paid, we receive enough payment from the people we help when they say "Thank You".
Are you really thinking now? Is all of this intriguing to you?
Being a CES member has a lot of benefits. The agency is all volunteer. The town of Corinth has generously hired paid Paramedics to help our community. We have paramedic coverage 24 hrs a day. The paramedics are a great asset to our agency and community. The paramedics and our volunteers all work together as a team, to provide the best care available in the field. We all are in this organization for one thing and that is to provide health care to those who need it. You too can be a part of our team. If you join the CES you will be provided with CPR training, and the basic knowledge to help in the field. If you would like even more training and knowledge, you can enroll in a EMT-D course paid for by the CES. All it takes is a few hours here and there. The Corinth Emergency Squad has always been known as the "GRANDFATHER OF ALL SQUADS". The squad helped start many other agencies in the past and, we are working our way back to that time and to honor that name.
We now have crews. Each crew is on from 6pm to 5am (depending on work schedule) one night with two nights off. The more members we get the more crews we can have which will give more nights off. Members are required to attend at least 6 mandatory first aid meetings a year. The 1st aid meetings we try to schedule once a month either a Sat. or Sun. We now are offering training classes at our building. These training classes are at least once a month at 7:00 pm during a weekday. These training classes are not mandatory but are very educational and a lot of fun. Members are also required to pitch in and work a scheduled Sun. night bingo once a month. Again, the more members we have the longer we have between our bingo duties. Bingo is one of our great fundraisers. Every other Wednesday of each and every month is our regular squad meetings, they start at 7:00 pm.
Sounds like all work and no play, you say, well its really not. We all have fun and enjoy ourselves too. We participate in parades, stand bys at town functions, school events, and many other opportunities that are both fun and interesting. We have an annual banquet held in March, each year. It is a great night, it's informal, we have dinner, listen to a DJ or a band, we enjoy the company of other agency EMS members, and some interesting and humorous stories that happened throughout the year. This year we will be starting up a annual "OLD TIMERS" night. We sponsor a little league team and now sponsor a team for the Annual Cancer softball game.
So as you can see, there is some work involved but, you can ask any of our members, its definitely worth it. You can develop strong friendships, here in our agency. You learn to work with individuals and groups of people. You work with other agencies, like the fire department, law enforcement, and other ems agencies. The most rewarding things about being a volunteer is, the opportunity to make a difference, see the difference you've made, and to hear the heart felt Thank you's that are expressed. The differences could be as little as calming a patient by reassuring them they are okay, to performing CPR and saving a life. It is a exciting, rewarding service, and at times challenging, but what better place to do all of this with than "THE CORINTH EMERGENCY SQUAD, INC."
