Sir Echo
Echo is a 11 month old AKC Registered Bloodhound. Echo was purchased by the squad (through fundraising money) in order to offer our community and surrounding communities with another service. He passed his obedience and is now in search and rescue training. He is doing a very good job learning. He thrives for these training sessions.
Bloodhounds are very kind, patient, noble, mild-mannered and lovable dogs. They were bred for man-trailing, that is why they are the granddaddy of all scent hounds. They are stubborn which is a good thing, therefore when they get on a trail they will not stop until they have found what they are looking for. Bloodhounds have long ears which help by swooping and stir up the scent from the ground to their nose. The wrinkles on their face trap minute scent particles and direct them towards the nose. Bloodhound dogs have a olfactory ability claimed to be three million times more powerful than the human sense of smell.
